Not a Bucket List

Icon_Inspiration-Category_200x200I never liked the term “bucket list.”

Yes, I know we all have to physically leave this earth, but the term has always made me feel kind of morbid. The term lends itself to the thought of death. While transition is inevitable, I have a whole lot of living to do. I don’t want to think about kicking any buckets any time soon.

I prefer a more life friendly term like “For the Living List” or “Lifetime Wish List.” Yeah I like that last one.

So here is my “Lifetime Wish List” in no specific order.

1. Learn to fly a plane. I love the very thought of flight and I love flying on planes. I want to take flight lessons and soar.

2. Travel around the world. I specifically want to travel to the continents of Africa and Asia. There are so many countries within these two continents that I could spend a lifetime traveling to them. I really want to see Egypt, Nigeria and Japan. I’ve been to London and I love Europe as well.

3. Learn to play the piano well. So I can play this….

and this…

4. Buy my momma the car of her dreams & send her on a cruise.  She always says she hasn’t see all of Memphis yet, but I want her see things besides her own home city.

5. Throw a fabulous dinner party and gift each guest with a 15 minute psychic reading from Rhonda Manning. Because she is AWESOME and I love dinner parties!

6. Put on a one woman stage play.  I have played around with this idea for years.  I’m going to commit to it.

7. Learn to swing dance. I love the Big Band era. I love Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and Benny Goodman. I always wished I could go back in time and go stomping at the Savoy.

8. Be invited to deliver a Ted Talk.

9. Go to Comic-Con. Yes I am a geeky nerd. I love all things Star Trek and fantasy. So I would love to dress up in costume and go to San Diego for the convention at least once.

10. Love and be loved unconditionally. I have that in my son, but I want that in the guy of my dreams. Notice I didn’t say get married. Just love and be loved.

Have you thought about what you would put on your Lifetime Wish List? Let me know in the comments.

And always remember to smell the flowers.
